Carden Papers

Hello Cardens,
Ronan Loughnane here in Templemore. I hope ye are all doing well and also hope that i might find some new information. I am currently studying a Local History Course and my assignment is on Education in Templemore. I have plenty of stuff so no worries there. In the course i have come across many deeds of different premises in the town with many of them originals signed by Sir John in the early nineteenth century. Original signature. As a Landlord in a big house they would have kept lots of family papers/books. When the left Templemore i doubt very much if they left those papers behind. Did they bring them back to England ??  Did they destroy them ?? Any of you ever heard anything.

Ronan

  1. As you will see in my book 'Carden of Templemore' (copy in the library) Sir John left for Scotland with his lady friend in 1902 never to return. He must have taken at least some of his papers as he brought 36 actions for recovery of rent against his tenants in 1909.
    He died in 1931.
